HES customers aren’t the only ones affected by the rate increase set down by the Tennessee Valley Authority, as Pennyrile Electric will also be increasing monthly customer charges.
The TVA Board of Directors voted recently to set a wholesale rate increase in the amount of 5.25 percent, and local power suppliers are impacted by that change. That increase will be reflected on customer’s bills, and Pennyrile Electric members will also see an increase to the monthly customer charge in the amount of $3.
That would reflect an increase of approximately $7 to $8 on the average residential bill, depending on usage.
Pennyrile officials says they understand the impacts on families in their communities due to the current change, but as rates may change over time, one thing that remains the same is the commitment to providing members with safe and reliable energy.
