One injured in East Ninth Street collision

A Hopkinsville woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on East Ninth Street Thursday afternoon.

According to the Hopkinsville Police report, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Amber Garrett of Herndon was heading west on East Ninth near the intersection of the Exit 8 crossover, while another vehicle operated by 19-year-old Alyssa Bearns of Hopkinsville was stopped at the light. 

Garrett was reportedly driving a vehicle she was unfamiliar with that began to stop on its own, causing Garrett to take let off all pedals, which is when she rearended Bearns. 

Bearns was taken by private vehicle to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for a head injury, while Garrett declined EMS. 

Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
