Small Business Administration urging counties in Tennessee, Kentucky to apply for disaster loans

There’s still time to apply for a Economic Injury Disaster Loan through the Small Business Administration, and counties in both Tennessee and Kentucky are eligible to apply.

That declaration is in response to the tornadoes that moved through middle Tennessee and western and southern Kentucky on December 9, causing damage as they did so. SBA Public Affairs Specialist Timothy Watson says counties in Tennessee, including Montgomery, Stewart, Davidson, Dickson, Cheatham, Gibson and Sumner counties are eligible for both the Economic Injury Disaster Loans, Home Disaster Loans and Business Physical Disaster Loans.

For those in the counties, you could be covered for a sizeable loan if you were to apply, whether you be homeowner or renter.

In Kentucky, the counties of Christian, Todd, Trigg, Simpson, Allen and Calloway are eligible for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Watson urges businesses or non-profits to just apply and see what you get—even if you’ve already begun repairs.

Watson says people can find out more about the credit and other requirements, or apply online at sba.gov/disaster or you can give their office a call.

There are a couple of events coming up in Tennessee—the first is on Jan 26 and the second on February 2, and Watson says what those do is allow them to provide assistance and connect people with valuable resources.

The deadline to apply for physical damages caused by the storms is February 12, while the deadline for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans is September 13.
