Newborn hearing screener set to honor late medical staff member

Jennie Stuart Health’s Newborn Hearing Screener was dedicated in memory of Dr. Ron Howard who was a member of the Jennie Stuart medical staff for 40 years on Friday.  The hearing screener is a new addition to the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that allows doctors to measure how well a baby’s hearing nerve and brain responds to sound. Kirkpatrick Street home destroyed in fire

A house was destroyed by fire in the 2000 block of Kirkpatrick Street Saturday evening. According to Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Lt. Payton Rogers, the structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, but everyone was able to safely evacuate from the residence. Two adults will be displaced and the Red Cross was called to assist. No one was injured in the blaze.

One taken to hospital from smoke-filled Bassett Street apartment

A man was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center Saturday afternoon after firefighters found him inside of an apartment filled with smoke. Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Lt. A Hopkinsville woman is facing several charges in relation to a robbery that occurred on Park Avenue earlier this week.
