>>Golden Knights Take 2-0 Series Lead In Cup Final

 

(Las Vegas, NV)  — The Golden Knights are two wins away from hoisting the Stanley Cup.  The top-overall seed in the Western Conference blew out the Panthers 7-2 in Game Two from Las Vegas.  Jonathan Marchessault and Brett Howden each scored a pair of goals while Alec Martinez, Nicolas Roy and Michael Amadio also lit the lamp.  Adin Hill made 29 saves for Vegas, which is up 2-0 in the best of seven series.  Anton Lundell and Matthew Tkachuk each scored for Florida while Sergei Bobrovsky was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 13 shots.  The Panthers are hoping to avoid a 3-0 deficit when the series shifts to Sunrise for Game Three on Thursday.

 

>>Report: Kyrie Asked LeBron For Reunion In Dallas

 

(Dallas, TX)  — Kyrie Irving is reportedly asking LeBron James to reunite with him in Dallas.  According to The Athletic, the Mavs point guard has reached out to James about joining him on the Mavericks.  The report comes despite Irving not currently being under contract with the Mavericks and James still having one year left on his deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.  Irving and James were teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014 to 2017, winning a championship together in 2016.

 

>>College Football Hall Of Fame Ballot Announced

 

(Undated)  — The 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot is being announced.  The National Football Foundation released its list of eligible nominees on Monday, which consists of 78 players and nine coaches from the FBS.  Michael Vick, Terrell Suggs and Larry Fitzgerald are among the candidates to be enshrined in Atlanta.  All three are appearing on the ballot for the first time.  Membership voting continues through the end of June.

 

>>NCAA Baseball Super Regionals Set

 

(Undated)  — Sixteen teams remain in the race for the 2023 Men’s College World Series title.  The Super Regionals field has been set following the conclusion of the NCAA Baseball Championship regional round.  Nine of the Top 16 national seeds remain, with top-seeded Wake Forest leading the way.  Six programs from the powerhouse Southeastern Conference remain as Florida, LSU, Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee were able to win their regional and advance.  Duke, Indiana State, Oral Roberts, Oregon, Southern Miss, Stanford, TCU, Texas and Virginia are all still vying for the national championship crown.

 

>>Women’s College World Series Matchup Set

 

(Oklahoma City, OK)  — The Women’s College World Series Championship matchup is set.  The top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners will square off against the number-3 Florida State Seminoles in a best of three series beginning on Wednesday.  The Sooners advanced after dispatching ninth-ranked Stanford 4-2 in the double-elimination round.  The Seminoles moved on following a 5-1 victory over fourth-ranked Tennessee.  Oklahoma is looking to hoist a third-straight title.  The Sooners took down Texas in last year’s College World Series final and beat Florida State in 2021.

(Paris)  — The Quarterfinals are set at the French Open.  Fourth-seeded Casper Ruud and sixth-seeded Holger Rune are set to meet in the quarters after collecting wins in the fourth round.  Alexander Zverev [[ zeh-ruhv ]] and Tomas Martin Etcheverry each rolled to straight set victories and will square off in the next round.  On the women’s side, sixth-seeded Coco Gauff advanced and will meet top-seeded Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.  Fellow American Bernarda Pera was eliminated by seventh-seeded Ons Jabeur.  Beatriz Haddad Maia also punched her ticket to the quarters.
