(Undated)  — The Celtics are aiming to make NBA history on tonight in Boston.  The defending Eastern Conference champions are set to host the Miami Heat for Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Finals at TD Garden.  The Heat led the series 3-0, before the Celtics reeled off three straight wins to force a win-or-go-home Game Seven.  Boston’s Derrick White was the hero in Game Six with a buzzer-beating layup in Saturday’s 104-103 win in Miami.  The winner of Monday’s game will face Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals beginning on Thursday.

 

 

>>Golden Knights, Stars Meet In Game Six Of Western Conference Final

 

(Undated)  — The Dallas Stars are looking to force a Game Seven in the Western Conference Final.  Dallas hosts the Vegas Golden Knights for Game Six on Monday night at the American Airlines Center.  The Stars have staved off elimination in two straight games after Vegas jumped out to a 3-0 series lead.  Jason Robertson scored his seventh goal of the postseason to help Dallas pull out a 4-2 win in Game Five.  The Golden Knights currently lead the series 3-2.  The winner of the West Final will advance to play the Florida Panthers in this year’s Stanley Cup Final.  Florida swept the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final to reach its first Stanley Cup since 1996.

 

>>NASCAR Race Postponed Due To Weather

 

(Charlotte, NC)  — The NASCAR Cup Series racers will have to wait an extra day to start their engines in Charlotte.  The Coca-Cola 600 race that was scheduled for Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway was postponed until 2 p.m. on Monday due to inclement weather in the area.  The 14th Cup Series race and longest NASCAR race of the season will begin with William Byron set to lead the field to green.  Denny Hamlin is aiming to defend his Coca-Cola 600 title after winning the race last season.

 

>>Josef Newgarden Wins Indianapolis 500

 

(Indianapolis, IN)  — Josef Newgarden is celebrating his first career victory at the Indianapolis 500.  Newgarden had been 0-for-11 in each of his previous races, but managed to finish first on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  The 32-year-old is the first American to win Indy since Alexander Rossi in 2016.  Marcus Ericsson finished in second place after winning last year.  Santino Ferrucci finished third, Alex Palou fourth, and Alexander Rossi rounded out the top five.

 

>>Nashville SC Defeats Columbus

 

(Nashville, TN)  — Nashville SC cruised to a win at home over the weekend.  Nashville defeated the Columbus Crew 3-1 at GEODIS Park.  Teal Bunbury, Hany Mukhtar and Fafa Picault scored in the win.  Nashville is second in the Eastern Conference with 28 points and an 8-3-and-4 record.  They return to the pitch on Saturday night on the road against FC Dallas.

(Paris)  — The opening day of the French Open is officially in the books.  Fifth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas]] and seventh-seeded Andrey Rublev each picked up four-set wins to advance to the second round.  It was a rough day for the Americans as Sebastian Korda was the lone winner.  Mackenzie McDonald, Maxime Cressy, Patrick Kypson, John Isner, Emilio Nava and Ben Shelton were all ousted in the opening round.  On the women’s side, Jessica Pegula rolled past fellow American Danielle Collins in straight sets. Eighth-seeded Maria Sakkari was upset by Karolina Muchova and second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka also advanced, but there was some controversy as the French Open crowd boo’d Ukrainian player Marta Kostyuk after she declined to shake hands with Russian player Sabalenka, due to their countries’ war.
