Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority is asking people to limit their water usage, as they are experiencing unusually high-water demand due to the frigid temperatures. Fire caused minor damage to a North Main Street motel Christmas Day. The call of smoke in a room at the American Inn came out just before noon and arriving crews fire in the attic space, according to Hopkinsville Fire Lt. Payton Rogers. No one was inside the room, there were no injuries and the fire was put out quickly.
Update: TVA says the blackouts are no longer needed. There is also no longer a request to conserve energy. TVA has again asked its providers, including Pennyrile Electric and HES, to implement rolling blackouts in an effort to reduce the load on its taxed system. Fire destroyed a home Friday morning on Old Madisonville Road. The call of fire at 5724 Old Madisonville came out just after 6 a.m. and firefighters from Crofton and Westside found the home fully engulfed in flames. Emergency personnel say there were no injuries reported and the cause of the blaze is unknown. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene with traffic control.
