The Western Kentucky State Fair Board has received a $100,000 grant from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture to go toward construction of a new livestock barn at the fairgrounds.
Fair Board President Brad Hewell says they’ll have to raise additional money to make the project happen, it will be in the same spot as the current barn and the size of the structure will be contingent on what they can afford.
The barn will open and flexible enough to host all of the traditional fair activities and hopefully some new offerings.
Hewell says they hope to have the new barn built and ready to go by the 2023 Western Kentucky State Fair in June.
