Late Flurry Sends Kentucky Past Iowa State, 4-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A one-goal lead with under 10 minutes to play turned into a four-score victory as Kentucky women’s soccer surged to an important bounce-back result over Iowa State at the Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon. Goals from Hannah Richardson, Dana Dahm, Mallory Glass and Emilie Rhode powered a strong response to UK’s first loss of the season and allowed the Cats to improve to 5-1-0 overall.

Goetzinger and Tealer Block No. 25 Southern Cal as UK Sweeps

Elise Goetzinger and Azhani Tealer each had four blocks as the No. 16 Kentucky Volleyball team overpowered No. 25 Southern California in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-14) sweep to secure the 2022 Hilton Omaha Bluejay Invitational championship thanks to an undefeated weekend.

Louisville and James Madison Play to 0-0 Draw

HARRISONBURG, Va. — The University of Louisville women’s soccer team finished off the weekend away from home with a 0-0 draw against James Madison Sunday afternoon from Sentara Park. The Cardinals finished with a 2-0-1 record in the three games away from Lynn Stadium and will return home for their first home match in two weeks this coming week.

No. 3 Cards Fall to No. 8 Ohio State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Anna DeBeer had a season-high 19 kills as the No. 3-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team fell 1-4 to No. 8-ranked Ohio State University on Sunday afternoon at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. UofL hit .248 as a team with nine aces and four blocks. Claire Chaussee finished with 13 kills and one ace and Elena Scott had 20 digs. Raquel Lazaro led the team with 35 assists. Ohio State hit .372 with four aces and five blocks. Four Buckeyes had double-digit kills. DeBeer and Chaussee were named to the Cardinal Classic All-Tournament Team. The Cardinals are back in action next weekend on Friday versus Purdue for the first match of the Louisville Invitational.

Lady Topper Soccer Draws with Belmont

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Soccer (2-2-2) ended its match against Belmont (1-1-3) in a 0-0 tie on Sunday afternoon in Bowling Green. Both teams failed to score, but the Lady Toppers outshot the Bruins 20-7 on the day. WKU had several dangerous scoring attempts, including a goal that was called off due to WKU being offsides and a close-range free kick that the Belmont goalkeeper was able to save. It was the second straight shutout for goalkeeper Alexis Bach and the WKU defense after a 1-0 win on Thursday against Kentucky.

Barnthouse, Bodker Score as Racers Draw with UT Martin

Junior forward Chloe Barnthouse and sophomore defender Morgan Bodker provided the offensive spark for Murray State (0-4-1) in a 2-2 draw with former conference rival UT Martin. The Racers and Skyhawks would clash following a nearly hour-long weather delay.

Racers Not Enough for Liberty at Tournament Finale

Murray State volleyball drop final match of the tournament to hosts, Liberty, in three sets, Saturday. The match is part of the three-match series in the Liberty Tournament. The Racers started the match with a close first set. Going neck to neck with the Flames all the way to the twenties. In the third set, Murray State refused to go without a fight, they trimmed an eight-point gap to three before eventually giving up the final set.

Roberts’ first-career goal not enough against Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Senior Karley Roberts scored her first-career goal, but it was not enough, as Austin Peay State University’s soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision against Middle Tennessee, Sunday, at Dean A. Hays Track & Stadium.

Govs romp to blowout win, post first shutout of Walden era

Austin Peay State University scored on each of its first six possessions and rolled to a 63-0 shutout victory of Presbyterian, Saturday, in nonconference action at Fortera Stadium. Austin Peay (1-1) was nearly perfect in the opening half as quarterback Mike DiLillelo led the Governors to touchdowns on each of its first six possessions. The Governors finished the half with 351 offensive yards – 138 rushing and 213 passing – while breaking out to a 42-0 halftime lead.

Powell’s 14 kills not enough as Govs fall at Florida State

Senior Mikayla Powell paced Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team with 14 kills against Florida State, but the Governors dropped a four-set decision (25-12, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18), Saturday, at Tully Gym.
