Kentucky Wins Season Opener Over Miami (Ohio)

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Quarterback Will Levis passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns as No. 20/21 Kentucky opened the 2022 season with a 37-13 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday night at Kroger Field. Tayvion Robinson, playing in his first game as a Cat, caught six passes for 136 yards, while true freshman Dane Key caught four passes for 53 yards and his first career touchdown. It was Key’s classmate, Barion Brown, who electrified the crowd, and broke open the game, with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to begin the second half. The UK defense allowed just 290 total yards in the game. DeAndre Square led UK with seven tackles, while another true freshman, Alex Afari, had six tackles, including one and a half tackles for loss and his first career sack.

Louisville Drops Opening Game at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Sean Tucker rushed for 98 yards and scored two touchdowns, one on a 55-yard catch-and-run, and quarterback Garrett Shrader threw for two scores and ran for another as Syracuse beat Louisville 31-7 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night. Louisville had won the past three meetings in the series — all at Cardinal Stadium, — averaging 42.3 points, and was 7-1 against the Orange since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014.

Six Forced Turnovers Guide WKU to 49-17 Victory Over Hawaii

HONOLULU – The WKU defense forced six turnovers in the Hilltoppers’ first-ever meeting with Hawaii, including a pick six by Juwuan Jones, on the way to beating the Rainbow Warriors 49-17 late Saturday night. With the win, WKU improved to 2-0 on the season while Hawaii dropped to 0-2 in defeat. Great job by our defense,” said WKU head coach Tyson Helton.
