Cadiz man arrested following vehicle pursuit in Calloway Co.

A Cadiz man is facing numerous charges following a vehicle pursuit in Calloway County Monday morning.

According to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle on Highway 641 North that was driven by 61-year-old Charles Sikes of Cadiz, as he was reportedly wanted for questioning in Trigg County.  Sikes failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit began that continued several miles into Marshall County before heading back into Calloway.

Spike strips were deployed by Sikes was reportedly able to swerve around them, but then collided with a sheriff’s deputy’s cruises in the area of Flint Road. The deputy involved in the crash was not injured.

Sikes was treated at Calloway County Hospital and then arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, three counts of wanton endangerment, third-degree assault of an officer, resisting arrest and first-degree criminal mischief.  He was lodged in the Calloway County Jail.
