Man who broke windows at businesses, library to get bed at Kentucky Recovery Center

A man who broke windows at Wendy’s, McDonald’s, a gas station and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library last year is having his sentence probated as he will receive drug rehabilitation treatment at a Kentucky Recovery Center.

Twenty-seven-year-old Altovise McGregor of Hopkinsville attempted to steal food and candy items at the West Seventh Street BP in November of last year and became irate and threw an object through the window when confronted.

He then went across the street and threw a rock through a window at Wendy’s and then walked to McDonalds and broke windows using multiple large stones.

A couple months prior to that he used a brick to destroy two large windows at the library.

He has been seeking a bed in a Kentucky Recovery Center and attorney Eric Bearden told Judge John Atkins Wednesday at sentencing that he’s confident placement will happen soon.

Judge Atkins agreed to probate his sentence to allow the placement, but he’ll stay in jail for another week or less if a bed becomes available to him sooner.

McGregor will also have to make restitution for the damage caused as part of his sentence and he’ll be able to work while living at the recovery center.
