Christian Fiscal Court approves Casey Jones expansion incentive, health insurance program

Christian Fiscal Court approved an incentive program for Casey Jones Distillery to assist with its expansion Tuesday morning and agreed to provide manpower for cleanup of burial sites for Christian County’s Revolutionary War veterans.

Tommy Henderson with the Sons of the American Revolution says they’ve identified the final resting places of 19 of the 73 veterans who came to Christian County at some time and while seven of them are being taken care of well, there are at least seven on private property that need cleanup and care.

Fiscal Court unanimously agreed to allow the use of jail inmate labor or county road department resources to clean up those burial sites.

Magistrates approved the standard incentive package for Casey Jones, which will rebate the owners 70-percent of increased property tax revenues over the next 10 years as they make a $1.9 million investment and create 15 new jobs.

In other action, the court agreed to increase its contribution to the county employee health insurance plan by 5-percent, with agent Mack Major saying costs—specifically prescription drug expenditures—have gone up dramatically the last several months.

Employees will not see their monthly premium go up under the action.
