Todd Fiscal Court approves proposal for jail medical services

Todd Fiscal Court Friday morning agreed to a proposal from West Kentucky Correctional Healthcare to provide medical services at the jail and approved pay raises for magistrates, the county attorney and county coroner.

West Kentucky already provides medical services to several jails in Kentucky—including McCracken, Marshall, Hopkins, Calloway and Graves County.

Total cost to the Todd County Jail would be $156,000 for the year and Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield told magistrates he was impressed after he and Jailer Jeff Penick met with representatives of the company.

In other action, a motion was made by Judge Mansfield and approved by magistrates to increase the salary of magistrates, the coroner and county attorney to $18,338, effective at the beginning of the next term in January. It’s believed that it’s been at least 20 years since those positions have received a pay raise in Todd County.

Todd Fiscal Court also approved the purchase of two snow plows from Impco of Madisonville for the Todd County Road Department at a cost of $12,800 each, which includes installation.
