The filing deadline to apply for disaster assistance in relation to the devastating December 10 and 11 tornadoes is fast approaching and the Small Business Administration is urging people to take advantage of their services.
Anne Williams is a Public Affairs Specialist with the SBA and says those SBA loans can cover more than one might think, from businesses losses to vehicle damages and more, and people have until Marcy 14 to file with them—she says a filing with FEMA should take place first.
She says people in Christian County can contact the SBA either online or by calling 1-800-659-2955, but folks in Hopkins County can meet with a representative at the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce.
Williams says help can be made to surrounding counties businesses that have been impacted by severe weather, so agencies in Todd and Trigg can reach out to them as well.
Williams explained that interest rates are currently low—1.87 percent—with terms up to 30 years. The deadline also includes those who incurred losses in the storms and tornadoes from New Years Day.
