Calloway County pursuit ends with arrest

A vehicle pursuit Saturday night in Calloway County ended with an arrest of the driver on multiple charges.

The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 53-year old Dennis Payton of New Concord for a traffic violation and a news release says he accelerated instead of stopping.

Payton was eventually brought into custody after a brief pursuit and deputies charged him with fleeing or evading police, possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and various traffic offense.

Payton was out on bond at the time for previous fleeing or evading, drug and DUI charges.
