Arrest made after Russellville shooting

A man was shot Monday morning in Russellville and a suspect was arrested.

Russellville police responded to 102 East Second Street about 1:40 a.m. Monday and found 23-year old Caleb Sowers of Russellville with a gunshot wound. Sowers was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he was treated and released.

Investigation determined Sowers had been in an altercation involving 19-year old Evan Merriman of Russellville and a juvenile. It was during that altercation when Merriman allegedly shot Sowers.

Merriman was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree assault.
