Rain likely Thursday, light snow event and cold over weekend

Western Kentucky will likely see rain and perhaps a little snow in the next few days before some of the coldest air of the winter moves in this weekend.

During the weekly National Weather Service in Paducah conference call Monday morning, Meteorologist Rick Shanklin said the area can expect about a half-inch of rain Thursday and there could be a small amount of snow Saturday night as an Arctic cold front plunges south.

High temperatures Sunday will be in the lower 20’s—likely the coldest day since Christmas.

The eight to 14 day outlook is also showing colder than normal temperatures and less than normal precipitation.

The second-half of February is currently forecast to be colder and wetter than normal.
