Two injured in East Seventh Street crash

Two people were injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon on East Seventh Street. It happened about 4:45 p.m. and the report from Hopkinsville police says 39-year old Larry Cook of Princeton was eastbound and 81-year old James Putty of Hopkinsville was westbound when their vehicles collided in a curve. Putty and Cook’s passenger—36-year old Sally Meredith of Caneyville—were both taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Christian Co. gains one new confirmed case of COVID-19

Christian County gained one new confirmed case of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday, putting the total since the pandemic began locally at 249. According to the Christian County Health Department, 84 of those cases are considered ‘active’, and 161 people have recovered from the illness. Ky. gains 220 COVID-19 cases, Tn. sees highest single day increase

Kentucky gained another 220 cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to an update from Governor Andy Beshear’s Office. According to a news release, those 220 cases put the overall total at 15,842 since the pandemic began—approximately 4,052 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.  Currently, around 411,217 coronavirus tests have been performed in Kentucky. Pennyrile Senior Games cancelled due to COVID-19

The Pennyrile Senior Games, which had been set to take place in September in Hopkinsville, has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Hopkinsville Fire Department is issuing safety guidance to anyone shooting their own fireworks in the next few days. It’s legal to shoot fireworks in the City of Hopkinsville July 1 through July 5 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12:30 a.m., but they cannot be within 200 feet of any structure, vehicle or person. Todd County has fourth new COVID-19 case in four days

Todd County added a fourth new case of COVID-19 in a four-day period Wednesday. The adult with other underlying health conditions is isolated a home with no symptoms, according to the Todd County Health Department, which says the patient is not connected to other cases and their contacts have been notified to quarantine. Todd County is up to 37 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with nine active and 28 patients recovered.

KSP still planning on resuming driver’s license road testing

Kentucky State Police is working on resuming the road tests for new driver’s license applicants. Sgt.
