Small child drowns in pond near Cadiz

A small child drowned Tuesday morning near Cadiz.

Initial investigation by Kentucky State Police and the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office determined a small child walked away from a home and was later located in a pond by a neighbor on Woodland Drive.

The Trigg County coroner pronounced the child dead at the scene and determined the incident to be accidental in nature.

An autopsy was scheduled at the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville.
