A horse was killed and a woman was injured in an accident on Nortonville Road in Hopkins County Wednesday night.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department received multiple complaints of a woman wearing dark clothing riding a horse in the area of St. Charles on Nortonville Road about 8:30 p.m.
Just before deputies could locate the horse, it was struck by a pickup driven by 82-year old Leon Smith of Nortonville.
The horse died at the scene and the rider, 52-year old Judith Henderson of Dawson Springs, was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Smith was not hurt in the accident.
