WHOP AM
The Big Read is taking a spooky turn just in time for Halloween and there’s still space available for those interested in a Haunted Hopkinsville Walking Tour.
Appearing on WHOP recently, Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County Director Alissa Keller says the tour will make its way past Lone Oak, one of the most well-known ‘haunted’ houses in the city. She says she’ll provide both history and an account of experiences that have happened there and other locations.
Keller says she’s had fun gathering the history of ghost stories in the community and this will be a first for Hopkinsville.
Then on Saturday, Keller says they’ll have an arts and heritage day based off the day of the same name that happens with Leadership Hopkinsville. She says there is a cost with the event, which includes lunch, painting supplies for activities at Griffin’s Studio and more.
There will also be a scavenger hunt and updates from local artists and art organizations. For more information, call the Museums at 270-887-4270. The Big Read concludes next week, with more events planned that coincide with the reading material this year—Our Town, by Thornton Wilder.
