Gary Woodland denied Brooks Koepka a third straight U.S. Open title and captured his first major championship by pulling away late for a three-shot win at Pebble Beach. Koepka had moved within a shot of the lead with a birdie on the 11th hole, but Woodland birdied the par-5 14th to extend his advantage and later sank a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th to finish at 13-under.

2013 champion Justin Rose entered the final round one shot behind Woodland but shot a 3-over 74 to end in a four-way tie for third. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker finished at four over par and tied for 52nd.
