HS Baseball Roundup: Christian County, Hoptown & UHA all winners Friday

Christian County defeated 2nd region rival Webster County 9-4 Friday night in its opening game at the Louisville Invitational Tournament Friday night at Fern Creek High School. Lane Diuguid had two of the Colonels six hits and one of the team’s four doubles. Bryson Brown picked up a complete game pitching win for Christian County, now 11-5 on the season.

Hopkinsville defeated Northeast 6-2 in Clarksville Friday night. The Tigers got two hits each from Ryan Myers and Caleb Bapp with Robert Justus pitching 6 2/3 innings in getting the win. Justus had 12 strikeouts in the victory as Hopkinsville improved to 11-6.

University Heights scored five times in the bottom of the 7th inning in edging Crittenden County 8-7. Luke Welch had a three run walk-off double to give the Blazers the victory. It was one of two doubles Welch had in the contest as he went 2-4 at the plate while Eston Glover was 2-3. Welch was also the winning pitcher going six innings allowing two hits and striking out 11. The Blazers are now 10-9 on the season.
