A Hopkinsville man is facing several charges, including DUI and tampering with physical evidence, following a wreck on Fort Campbell Boulevard Sunday.
According to a report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a traffic accident on Fort Campbell Boulevard where one of the vehicles had reportedly fled the scene. The vehicle, operated by 26-year old Byron Bell of Hopkinsville, was located parked on the I-24 westbound on ramp.
Bell reportedly performed poorly on multiple field sobriety tests and allegedly told deputies he had been drinking at a party earlier in the day. Investigation determined that Bell had allegedly placed a handgun, which he does not have a concealed carry permit for, in the driver’s side floor board to try and conceal it.
Bell was arrested and charged with second-offense DUI, tampering with physical evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, leaving the scene of an accident and multiple traffic violations.
