A Madisonville firefighter was injured while responding to a house fire on Murray Street in Madisonville early Friday morning.
According to a news release, personnel from the Madisonville fire and police departments responded to 164 Murray Street for reports of a fire and when they arrived on scene the residence was fully engulfed. The occupants of the home—21-year old Alexander Morse and his grandmother, 66-year old Cheryl Redd—were asleep when the fire began. They were able to safely escape the home without injuries.
Firefighters fought the blaze for over an hour before getting it under control. One firefighter was hit by falling debris and taken to Baptist Health Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Residents were displaced due to damages and investigation is underway to determine what started the blaze.
