Hopkinsville, Elkton to swear in mayors, council members on Dec. 27

Ceremonies have been scheduled for the swearing-in of the mayors and city council members in Hopkinsville and Elkton.

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks and the 10 returning and two new city council members will be sworn in by District Judge Foster Cotthoff on Thursday, December 27th at 5 p.m. in council chambers at the downtown Municipal Center.

Darvin Adams in Ward 1 and Jason Bell in Ward 11 are the two new incoming council members.

Mayor Carter Hendricks says, “I am excited and honored to begin my second term as Hopkinsville’s Mayor and to work with these caring and committed leaders that serve on our City Council. Through a shared vision and strong teamwork, I am confident that Hopkinsville’s future is only getting brighter and that our quality of life will be second to none in our region and state.”

Meanwhile, new Elkton Mayor Arthur Green and members of Elkton City Council will be sworn in that same day at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Todd County Courthouse on the Elkton Public Square.

George Orr is the only new member of Elkton City Council, replacing David Haley who ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor.
