Woman facing assault charges following pursuit in Hopkinsville

A Hopkinsville woman is facing numerous charges, including assault of an officer and assault on a service animal, following a pursuit in the city Saturday.

According to the police report, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on 28-year old Aliciana Johnson of Hopkinsville for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign on South Virginia Street. Johnson allegedly fled before eventually striking a utility pole and then backing into a police cruiser.

A K9 unit reportedly suffered minor injuries, including two lacerations to the face. Johnson struck an awning attached to a home before stopping and was taken into custody.

She is charged with fleeing or evading police, second-degree assault of an officer, second-degree assault on a service animal, first-degree criminal mischief, driving on a DUI suspended license, disregarding a stop sign and several other traffic violations.
