UL wide receiver Smith undergoes emergency surgery

University of Louisville wide receiver Jaylen Smith underwent an emergency appendectomy this morning. The junior started 10 games last season and elected to come back this season instead of going to the NFL due to a wrist injury which was surgically repaired in the off season.

Coach Bobby Petrino said in a statement the team looks forward to Smith returning to practice as soon as possible. Today was the first day of workouts for the Cardinals.
