Inaugural Officer Phillip Meacham memorial 5k coming up this fall

The inaugural Officer Phillip Meacham 5K run/walk coming up this fall will raise money for law enforcement agencies across Kentucky and help locals remember the legacy Meacham left behind.

It will be on the morning of October 6th and begins at the Christian County Justice Center. The entry fee is $25 and it includes a t-shirt, or you can simply purchase a shirt for $15.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Head was friends with Meacham for over 20 years and organized the event. He says much of the money raised will go to smaller departments in Kentucky that will apply to purchase much-needed equipment.

Head says conversations he had with Meacham make him believe he would be pleased with the mission.

In addition to raising money for good causes, Deputy Head says the annual event will serve to keep alive the memory of Officer Meacham.

You can register online on the City of Hopkinsville website.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Phillip Meacham was shot and killed by a suspect March 29th during an investigation on Paulette Court.
