Elsewhere in the National League: Jose Martinez belted a two-run homer in the first inning as the Cardinals topped the Marlins 4-1 and avoided a three-game sweep. Miles Mikolas yielded just an unearned run over seven innings as he improved to 7-and-1.
Anthony Rizzo homered and drove in two as the Chicago Cubs clipped the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 in the rubber match of a three-game series at Wrigley Field. The Cubs welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon.
