Off-duty firefighter arrested for DUI

An off-duty Hopkinsville firefighter was arrested early Monday morning for DUI.

The arrest citation for 41-year old Kynan Kreidel of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee says ECC received a call about 12:20 a.m. of a vehicle stopped for about 10 minutes in the intersection of Dawson Springs Road and Sanderson Drive.

A Hopkinsville Police officer arrived and found Kreidel in the driver’s seat of the running pickup, still stopped in the intersection.

Police say Kreidel was emotional, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and had slurred speech. He allegedly admitted to drinking two beers and vodka earlier in the night.

He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .119 on the breathalyzer test.

Kreidel reportedly became belligerent after being placed under arrest, calling an officer a derogatory name and telling him he could have let him walk.

He is charged with DUI and obstructing a highway.
