Murray State’s Jonathan Stark has earned at least a share of the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for men’s basketball in three-straight weeks in voting conducted on Monday by the league’s sports information directors.

He shared the OVC’s weekly honor with SIUE’s Jalen Henry.
Stark had a big week with 36 points against SEMO (Jan. 4) and then 22 vs UT Martin (Jan. 6). He tied the MSU record of the fastest to reach 1,000 career points in his 48th game and if that wasn’t enough, Stark set the MSU record with 39 consecutive made free throws and had a 14-of-14 game against the Redhawks. He averaged 29 points per game in the week on 54 percent shooting from the field and 55 percent from the 3-point line.

Stark is the first Racer to win three-straight OVC weekly Player of the Week awards since December of 2014 when Cameron Payne did it. Stark has seven OVC Newcomer of the Week and now three OVC Player of the Week awards in his two season at Murray State.

The Racers (12-3, 4-0 OVC) are on the road this week in OVC play. MSU is at Jacksonville State Thursday and Tennessee Tech Saturday. Both dates are women’s men’s doubleheaders with the women’s game tipping at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
