A community is mourning after a young girl was located deceased in the river at Billy Dunlop Park in Clarksville Sunday afternoon.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, officers assisted Clarksville Fire Rescue and Montgomery County EMS with water rescue operations at Billy Dunlop Park, where witnesses reported seeing a young girl go under the water just before 1:30 p.m.
The 11-year-old was last seen near the metal bridge at Billy Dunlop Park, with several adults also in the water trying to find her.
She was ultimately located roughly an hour later, where she was declared deceased.
