Police arrest Hopkinsville woman for attempting to stab minor

Hopkinsville Police arrested 54-year-old Melody Burrus of Hopkinsville after she reportedly attempted to stab a minor with a pair of scissors on Tuesday.

A woman called 911 to report a disturbance on behalf of her daughter. The mother shared that Burrus was attempting to stab her daughter with a pair of scissors.

Officers responded to a residence on Elm Street and made contact with Burrus and several minors that were in the house. A video obtained from one of the minors reportedly showed Burrus holding a pair of scissors and attempting to lunge at the victim while yelling, “I hate your guts.”

The victim reportedly suffered small lacerations to her right arm. Burrus was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.
