Bluegrass Splash to close for the season as officials consider possible repairs

Bluegrass Splash, the newly reopened and rebranded waterpark in Hopkinsville, will close Sunday for the season as officials look into the need for further repairs.

Mayor J.R. Knight made the announcement at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville City Council meeting, saying he’s not happy with the decision, but what they believed to be a small leak has turned out to be much larger, and the water bill is high.

He says the waterpark will be closed for the season as they consider how to address it, as they must be good stewards of tax payer dollars.

Bluegrass Splash, formerly known as Tiebreaker Family Aquatic Center, was closed last season for significant renovations and repairs for leaks, upgrades to the play equipment and called for removing the pool liner and breaking concrete to locate the exact location of a large leak at that time.

Bluegrass Splash reopened this season and was off to a strong start, only brief closing for a weekend to fix a pipe that burst in a pool house that was quickly addressed.
