About 2,000 students signed up for the Christian County Public School System’s summer learning institute and Superintendent Chris Bentzel believes the district is on the way to making up some of the learning that was lost to disruptions caused by the pandemic.
Appearing Friday morning on WHOP, Bentzel noted the summer learning institute will be offered at each public school campus during the month of June and it will be paid for with federal COVID relief funds.
He’s pleased with the number of students who signed up and says it’s part of a comprehensive recovery plan to get any students who fell behind academically back on track.
Both high schools will host in-person commencement May 21 at the Stadium of Champions and Bentzel encourages businesses and individuals to make a cash contribution to the Adopt a Senior program now to help the district honor those graduates with gifts as project graduation is canceled.
