With one school year behind us, closing the door on a year of final events and goodbyes, eyes now turn towards the future as the two high schools are set to become one in August, when the new high school is set to open to students.
Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel spoke with WHOP Radio Monday morning, and says while the weather played mischief with their graduation plans, staff, administrators and students and their families were able to quickly pivot back to the gymnasiums. He says they turned out to be something really special, and he hopes they were able to send both schools and graduates off with a bang.
Now, it’s pedal to floor to get the final touches down on the new Christian County High School, being built at Lovers Lane and Fort Campbell Boulevard, as students will be looking to begin class there come August 19.
Bentzel says they have their certificate of temporary occupancy, and they’re aiming to get a permanent one very soon, as they wait for the final touches to be complete.
He says they have some big items to complete after that, including the athletic fields, furniture move in and construction and a big clean to get the building shiny and ready for students.
The goal is to have everything clean, finished and ready to roll in time for the ribbon cutting set for August 6, but Bentzel says it probably won’t feel completely real until August 19, when students finally set down for class for the first time.
