Bicyclist killed in Dawson Springs collision

Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal vehicle versus bicyclist collision that happened last week in Dawson Springs.

According to a news release, it happened in the 4400 block of Charleston Road in Dawson Springs in Hopkins County at about 5:30 a.m. on February 18. Preliminary investigation determined that a pickup truck heading northbound on Charleston Road entered a second lane while trying to pass another vehicle that was heading north. 

That’s when the pickup struck a bicyclist, identified as 49-year-old David Baggott of Dawson Springs, who was riding a bicycle southbound at the time.

Baggott was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner, and the incident remains under investigation.
