Russellville man dies in possible drowning

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible drowning that resulted in the death of a Russellville man.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 100 block of Tanner Road on Saturday around 3:30 p.m. for a death investigation where a 25-year-old Joseph Hunter Merrill of Russellville had been found unresponsive in a swimming pool. 

It’s unknown how long Merrill had been in the pool by the time he was found—life-saving measures were conducted after he was pulled from the pool, but they were unsuccessful.

He was declared deceased at the scene and an investigation remains ongoing.
