Road work to begin on I-24 in Trigg, Caldwell and Lyon counties next week

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin a daytime work zone that includes lane restrictions in Trigg, Caldwell and Lyon counties starting on Monday.

According to a news release, the work will take place along I-24 from the 64 mile-marker to the 52-mile-marker and will include milling and installing edge rumble strips in a roughly four-and-a-half-mile section each day, weather permitting.

Starting Monday, the westbound lanes on I-24 will be restriction from the 65-mile-marke to the 60—then Wednesday it will be blocked from the 60-mile-marker to the 55-mile-marker, until work is completed.  On about Friday, the work zone will move to the eastbound lanes. 

Motorists should be alert for signage and trucks with arrow boards guiding traffic to shift into the open lane.

The work zone will have a reduced speed limit of 55 mph.
