A man is in a Nashville hospital after he was hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning in the 400 block of North Drive.
Mikayvion Merritt was taken by private vehicle to Jennie Stuart Medical Center following the incident just after 2 a.m. and he was later transferred to Skyline Medical Center in critical condition, according to Hopkinsville Police Captain Rico Rodriguez.
He says the driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year old Billy Johnson of Gracey, was initially unaware anyone had been hit by his vehicle.
He was later cited for leaving the scene of an accident because police say he failed to contact police immediately when a witness notified him of his involvement.
