Local MLK Day march, program set for this morning

It’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the annual march and program will commence later this morning in Hopkinsville.

Human Rights Commission Executive Director Idalia Luna says the march begins at 9 o’clock at Freedom Elementary School and heads to the Hopkinsville Community College Auditorium.

This year’s program is youth-led, featuring young men and ladies from Men2Be and Lipstick After Dark.

Tom Bell’s School Challenge will again allow the local school with the greatest participation to receive an award, with judging for that to be held before the march.

HRC is partnering with the Salvation Army on a coat drive, with new and gently used coats to be collected from 8 until 10 a.m. at the HCC auditorium.
