Man who was shot in abdomen officially charged in Logan County burglary

The man who arrived at Jennie Stuart Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen August 1 has been arrested for an alleged burglary in Logan County.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year old Joshua Taylor of Russellville is the man who allegedly forced his way inside a home in the 4300 block of Deerlick Road at about 1 a.m. August 1.

The homeowner had gotten up when he heard a noise and fired a shot from a gun when the intruder came inside.

Taylor was driven to the Jennie Stuart emergency room about an hour later and claimed he was shot at a party near the monument in Fairview.

Investigation by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police determined there had not been a shooting near Fairview and KSP said Taylor refused to answer questions about where and how he was shot during interviews at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He soon became a suspect in the Logan County burglary and was arrested following treatment at the Nashville hospital.

He’s charged with burglary in the first degree, fourth-degree assault and second-degree criminal mischief.
