Rain early this week, cooler temps toward weekend

Rain is in the forecast early this week, but there’s hope that those showers could help usher in some cooler and drier air later this week.

National Weather Service in Paducah Warning Coordination Meteorologist Christine Wielgos said during the weekly conference call that the cold front will bring rain to the region and it should move out of the Pennyrile by sometime Wednesday.

While there could be heavy rain and a few minor flooding issues, severe weather is not expected.

High temperatures should be in the lower 80’s by the weekend and Wielgos says while there could be more hot and humid days this summer, they should start becoming rarer toward the end of the month.

The rainfall this week should also further help any of western Kentucky that remains in or near drought status.
