HPD investigating Sunday afternoon shooting

Hopkinsville police are investigating a shooting incident from Sunday afternoon that sent the victim to a Nashville hospital.

The call came in about 2:20 p.m. that a man on a bicycle fired shots in the 2000 block of Poplar Street, with few other details given.

The victim, 18-year old Jontavious Walton, was flown by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the arm and his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information should call HPD at 270-890-1300.
