Ky. gains 5,133 COVID cases, 45 new deaths

Kentucky had another day of over 5,000 new COVID-19 cases, as Governor Andy Beshear also reported 45 more deaths.

Governor Beshear says the 5,133 new cases would be too many no matter what, but it is especially concerning now, during a time when many hospitals in the state are already at max capacity.

Those 45 new deaths put the death toll since the pandemic began at 8,251.  In some good news, the positivity rate fell to 12.88 percent, dipping below 13 percent for the first time in weeks.

Governor Beshear once again urged everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19, as it is your best chance of staying out of the hospital if you do become sick.

There are currently 2,426 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 647 in the ICU and 463 on a ventilator.
