Woman and child injured in Labor Day crash

Two people were hospitalized, including a juvenile who was flown to Nashville, following a two-vehicle accident Labor Day at Greenville Road and the KY 1682 Bypass.

Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Goulet says 24-year-old Mia Mundy of Owensboro was attempting to make a left turn from the Bypass onto Greenville Road just before noon and struck the side of a southbound SUV on Greenville Road driven by 33-year-old Jonathan Tatum of Hopkinsville.

The collision knocked Tatum’s vehicle off the road and it rolled into the creek under the bridge on the Bypass.

Mundy and her passengers sustained only minor injuries and while Tatum had injuries, he declined a trip to the hospital.

Tatum’s wife and son—Ashley Tatum and 8-year-old Blake Tatum—were injured and required treatment.

Ashley was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for knee pain and lacerations to the leg and Blake was flown by Air Evac to a Nashville hospital for head and back pain, though it was not thought to be life-threatening.

Another juvenile in the Tatum vehicle was not hurt.
