Five injured in Madisonville Sunday morning shooting

The Madisonville Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning and injured five people.

According to a news release, officers responded to Elm Street in Madisonville around 1:30 a.m. for reports of an assault and were able to determine that a party had been underway with approximately 100 people present. Investigation determined that an individual, who has not been identified, began shooting a firearm and a different unknown individual began shooting a separate firearm at the same time.

Forty-three year old Lahonda Walker of Madisonville and a 14-year old female victim were both flown to an Evansville hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds, with Walker listed in serious condition. Three other individuals were taken to Baptist Health Madisonville for what are described as serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Madisonville police are asking for anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information about the incident to call Hopkins County Crime Stoppers at 270-825-1111.
