Sen. McConnell says Senate convening as ‘essential workers’

The U.S. Senate has reconvened for in-person session despite concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking on the floor, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate will focus on approving judicial nominees.

The Kentucky Republican claims Senate Democrats have used across-the-board obstruction tactics for nominees that used to travel easily by voice vote.

He added that the Senate is going to be “as smart and safe” to prevent the spread of the virus at the U.S. Capitol.

Senate Democrats have criticized McConnell for not concentrating on helping Americans dealing with the effects of the pandemic.
